Bello Bouba Launches XXL Pre-Campaign Ahead of 2025 Election

Between chants, flags and jubilant crowds, Bello Bouba Maïgari has turned public squares across Cameroon into arenas of political mobilization. From Ngaoundéré to Bafoussam, via Meiganga, Garoua-Boulaï and Limbe, the president of the UNDP is waging an intense pre-campaign filled with bold promises, unexpected confrontations and popular fervor.
Ngaoundéré: First Major Rally
On 22 August, the Ngaoundéré festival grounds became a sea of color and sound as thousands of supporters gathered from across the Adamaoua and Mayo-Rey. Bello Bouba praised their loyalty, recalling the historic role of the region in his political movement. He outlined priorities for his first six months in office: inclusive dialogue to resolve the Anglophone crisis, a general amnesty for political prisoners, electoral reform, a five-year presidential term with two-round voting, debate on federalism, recognition of dual nationality and diaspora participation.
Meiganga: Local Tensions
On 23 August, in Meiganga, the candidate’s convoy was blocked by the sub-prefect using his official car. Residents intervened to clear the way, underscoring simmering tensions. Bello Bouba pressed ahead with his rally, pledging inclusive dialogue and development.
Garoua-Boulaï: Unity and Hope
On 24 August, another huge crowd welcomed him in Garoua-Boulaï. In a firm speech, Bello Bouba denounced injustices and presented a roadmap for a more united and prosperous Cameroon. Youth groups promised vigilance until election day.
Limbe: Defiance in the Southwest
In Limbe, the sub-prefect withdrew authorization for the rally on the day itself. Despite police intervention, supporters forced the meeting to proceed. Bello Bouba announced plans for dialogue with Ambazonian leaders, regional security, revival of the CDC, tourism development and infrastructure investments.
Bamenda: Focus on the Northwest
On 6 September, Bamenda staged a grand reception. Bello Bouba promised a special status for the region, reconciliation efforts, road modernization to Nigeria, and agro-industrial projects including a hydroelectric micro-station on the Menchum River.
Bafoussam: Dialogue and Modernization
On 7 September, Bello Bouba visited Bafoussam and received blessings from local leaders. He pledged to modernize the Bafoussam-Douala corridor, boost infrastructure and strengthen regional exchanges.
